Paige Novick is best known for “frou by paige novick”, the upscale, contemporary handbag and accessories company that was carried by specialty and department stores in the U.S., Japan and Europe from 1993-2003. In 2005, Novick discovered how her talent translated to designing jewelry when she created a leather and silver bracelet for her husband. The experience of working with more intimate and valuable fashion materials gave her the impetus to uncover her hidden talent even further for this new accessory category. She works with assorted gold, unusually cut semi-precious stones, baroque pearls, and colored diamonds. Novick will often work outside of her comfort zone by pairing unlikely metals or by taking a very classic link gold necklace and oxidizing the metal so it looks rough and worn. The contrast of such opposing ideas – masculine vs. feminine and organic vs. synthetic – has consistently been the hallmark of her work.
